Painting Flying

should i be spray painting in my drive way?
I’ll be working on rust on my car, i’ll be using white paint and red primer, is it safe? i heard paint flies into the air and my landlord wouldn’t be happy if theres white spots on his pavement driveway. Also should i paint my sctratched up hub caps white while i’m at it? Will i look cheap if i do it? Thanks
For a regular paint job, unless you aim directly at the ground, the paint fog will not adhere to the driveway. If you want to be sure not to accidentally apply paint to the driveway, simply wet the driveway down with some water before you paint. It’ll loft the paint off the asphalt and it has the added bonus of reducing dust from getting kicked up while you paint.
Just in case – don’t aim the gun or can down toward the driveway, and you’ll be fine.
For the hub caps, sand the scratch areas with 320, followed by 400 grit, scotch bright the rest of the cap, clean, wash and dry them, fog them with a coat of primer followed by two coats (minimum) of a paint designed for rims. The paint is more durable than standard auto paint, so it’ll last longer. If you do a good job (and pick the correct colors!), the paint job should look perfectly fine.
Good luck!
