Clay Figurines/Sculpture Help?
I am interested in making 6-12 inch busts/sculptures with intent to detail paint. I am familiar with Super Sculpey but I have some questions that need answering:
1. Is there any other product out there that CAN be placed in natural sunlight without damaging the finished product? Is Super Sculpey the way to go on this one regardless?
2. What type of paint is best to be used? Which clay base would be better for it? Pink or White
3. Are there any distinctive guides/books on bust and sculptures anyone can point me to? (refresher course never hurts)
There are several books and videos by Bruno Lucchesi
I took classes from one of his friends. I was taught to work in stoneware. The stoneware is fired in a kiln
Fired ceramics with that have been glazed can endure the sunshine.
Painted pieces the colors survive based on if the paint color was pigment based ( a mineral) .
Now may be a good time.
Where I live there will be some groups publishing their spring catalog of classes.
A great place to check is your local library
Librarians are a great source for what is available locally
I have some of my pieces on my blog

There are more on a second page
I rated it mature but the pieces are the level that can be seen in a public museum.
