i have a 1951 chevy. dose any one no what later modle car frame i could fab. to sit my body on?
i would like to put my 1951 sadan delivery about the same leigh as a 51 car, on a newer style frame
A good modern frame (chassis) is from a Chevy S10 2 wheel drive pickup. They are easy to shorten (get the long box or extended cab version) and you can get lowering kits for it. You may need a wider rear axle, but this is easily done by getting the rear axle from a 4X4 S10 as they are wider and bolt right in. The rear axle will handle a mild V8. You may need to do some floor modification to the 51 to fit the frame in place. Lowering spindles, lowering springs and other chassis hot rod parts are readily available for the S10. You can buy bolt in motor mounts for the S10 chassis as well. The result will be a modern ride with disc brakes, modern steering and that has readily available parts to hot rod it. They’re cheap too!! Buy a complete junk yard pickup and use everything you can from it – drive shaft, master cylinder, etc.
