Horseshoe Magnet
why is it inadvisable to make a horseshoe magnet from a flexible material?
If your magnetic poles were very strong and your magnet was flexible, they would attract each other and form a ring. The charges would neutralize and you would be left with a regular old flexible piece of whatever.
