Watercolour Art
small watercolor art big frame?
I did not get many responses for this so I am posting it again:
I have done some abstract watercolors in very small sizes. some are 3″x 4″ and some 4″x 4″. these paintings have a lot of detail and I want to give them importance by using an exaggerated over-sized mat and frame. Like the ones in the museums.
How big is too big for mat and frame? I just don’t want it to look ridiculously huge but large enough to make a statement.
12X16, and 12X12 Mats would probably look good. I suggest taking the pieces to the framer and try out different sizes for the best look. Very easy to decide. If your framer is good, they would be able to assist in making the correct decision.
